Do US citizens need a visa for Cyprus?

US citizens holding a regular passport do not need a visa to enter Cyprus for tourist purposes. You can stay in the Republic of Cyprus for up to 90 days without a visa. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your intended departure date.

You may need a visa if…

• Entry via Ercan Airport (in the Turkish Cypriot-Administered Area) or a seaport in the north is not considered legal by the Republic of Cyprus. Use Larnaca or Paphos airports, or seaports of Limassol, Larnaca, and Paphos.
• The U.S. Embassy has limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in the Turkish Cypriot-Administered Area.
• Do not try to enter the United Nations buffer zone anywhere other than a designated crossing point.
• The Republic of Cyprus does not recognize residency permits issued by Turkish Cypriots. Staying in the Turkish Cypriot-administered area for over 90 days or arriving there first may result in denial of entry to the Republic of Cyprus.
• Ensure your passport has at least two blank pages for entry stamps.
• Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for important updates and alerts.
