Deep breath. Here's the answer.

Russia requires Irish citizens to get a visa before travel via a Russian embassy. Since the invasion of Ukraine, the Department of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Russia. Flights are limited, sanctions have cut off most Western bank cards, and foreign nationals have been arbitrarily detained.
